Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi has said that the constitution amendment proposal was in the interest of the nation and would pave the way for local, provincial and federal elections. Addressing the concluding function of the 9th Gorkha festival here Saturday, he claimed that the amendment would secure the changes like republic, federalism and secularism and added that it was the right of the government to table the amendment proposal in the parliament. Any side not happy with it can vote against it, he added. NC central member Chinkaji Shrestha demanded just compensation to those affected by the Budhi Gandaki hydel project while central member Surendra Raj Pandey called for unity among all the parties to realize the project.
